Is there any doubt we need true conservatives in office? We are in a battle for our nations very existence. Am I suggesting that if our nation does not uphold traditional values we will cease to exist? No, I am coming right out and saying this. I believe our great country could fall without one single shot fired by our enemies. We are being destroyed from the inside out. The family and traditional marriage are under attack. If our families can be obliterated, we will not be able to stand.

I have mentioned in this blog, and several others ,why I so firmly believe Governor Huckabee is the person we need to lead our country. He has such an impeccable record of fighting for the values that are critical for the preservation of our great nation. Huckpac is making a real difference. Governor Huckabee does not simply support candidates that are sure winners, as some PAC leaders do. No, he helps conservative candidates win! Every dollar donated to Huckpac is money wisely invested. Governor Huckabee is on a mission to help take our country back. He is doing the right thing. Our country needs authentic conservatives serving at every level of government. I have stated on numerous occasions, how much I hope and pray Governor Huckabee runs again for POTUS. Until then, I am going to work to get conservatives elected. Our country is facing some real difficult obstacles. No one person can solve them alone, not even our ingenious Governor Huckabee. We all must do our part, now more than ever!

We Must Do the Right Thing

I apologize for not blogging for some time. I must admit, once Governor Huckabee withdrew from the race, I lost my enthusiasm for politics. I could never bring myself to support Senator McCain, as he does not represent my values like Governor Huckabee does. The Republican Party has lost its way, and was taken to the woodshed like it deserved. Unfortunately, that means a liberal Democratic controlled White House and Congress.

I will be praying for President-Elect Barack Obama and his family, along with our elected leaders in Congress. After all, Barack Obama will be our next President, like it or not.

It is important for the Republican Party to recommit themselves to conservative principles. First and foremost, we must be the party that values each and every life. I think rather than touting that we are a "big tent" party, we need to be a party that stands up for pro-life, family value positions. We need to promote limited government and individual achievement. One way to do that is not penalize productivity. That's why we need to implement the Fair Tax. We also need to cut wasteful spending. The members of Congress who supported the bailout should be fired. I am flabbergasted by the number of Republicans who supported this robbing of the taxpayers to give to the rich. We need to protect our nation's sovereignty. That means protecting our nation's borders and not providing amnesty to illegal aliens. Seven years after 9/11, very little has been done to protect our borders. It is crucial that we be an ally and a defender of the nation of Israel. If we stand by our convictions and do not waver, I strongly believe the votes will follow.

We must do the right thing. We need to have a conservative movement in this country and become the force of the GOP. By this, I mean true conservatives in every sense of the word - not just morally liberal capitalist pigs. We need to retake Congress in 2010, and we need to elect a Huckabee Republican to the White House in 2012.

The old-guard GOP has been taking moral conservatives for granted for far too long. I am no longer willing to vote for the "lesser of two evils." I have drawn a line in the sand. I am a Huckabee Republican.

Yes, No, Not Now

It looks like the answer to our prayers is" not now". Over forty hours later I still feel as though I am in shock. I can only imagine how Governor Huckabee must feel. What a journey this has been. To go from a virtual unknown candidate that polled as an asterisk to one of the top two. What a testimony to the person Governor Huckabee is, and the way he ran his campaign. Thank you Governor Huckabee! What an honor and a privilege it was to be a small part of it. He has forever changed the political landscape. The so-called experts are still trying to figure it out. They never will.

What happened? We all know that the Huckabee campaign was the most under funded and understaffed in the history of Presidential campaigns. What the campaign lacked in money they made up for with message. What they lacked in paid staff, they made up for that as well ,with an a super-staff where each person did the work of at least five people and an army of volunteers that nobody paid to love Governor Huckabee. What was difficult to overcome were the constant lies and distortions by the media and talk radio. The Fred factor in South Carolina handed a win to McCain. The rumor that was purported by Sean Hannity and FNC hurt us in Florida. I have never seen such an abuse of power in my life. To say that Governor Huckabee had "pulled out" of Florida ,when he was campaigning there almost every day. I feel sick to my stomach when I think about this. Who could forget the "two-man race" falsehood? After Super Tuesday, voters were continually bombarded with the "mathematically impossibe to win" falsehood. I don't think it is possible for all of the media outlets to be quite that ignorant. Despite all of this, people still continued to vote for Huckabee. Just think what would have happened if the people would have just been allowed to vote without the interference from those in power. The media elites, GOP elites, and so-called Christian leaders did the American people a great disservice in this election.

What's next? We can pray that there is some sort of upset within the next six months. I am sure that Senator McCain cannot defeat either Senator Clinton or Senator Obama. A few things make me believe this. The Democrats are very motivated to win back control of the White House. I think this has been demonstrated by the high turnout during the primary process. In order to win an election the base of the party must be energized. Senator McCain doesn't motivate us values voters. We will have a hard enough time simply voting for him. We will certainly not do the hard work required to get him elected. Historically, when a moderate-liberal Republican goes up against a Democrat, the Democrat wins. Unfortunately we are living in a time where the stakes are very high.

So we look to 2012. I hope and pray Governor Huckabee will make another bid for the White House. Our nation so desparately needs the type of leadership he would provide. I know he will help restore some of our nation's greatness. Actually, he already has. I know that hearts were changed by Governor Huckabee's contribution to the political process. I know we have a long way to go as a country. Despite all the things that went on during this political season, I can't help but believe that we are on the precipice of a dramatic change within the GOP and more importantly our nation.

In the meantime, we should get involved in the furthering of pro-life, pro-family, conservative policies. We need to help elect people who believe in the sanctity of human life, tradtional marriage, less government, the Fair Tax, and other conservative causes. If there isn't anyone running that share these values and are willing to fight for them, then we need to get off the sidelines and get involved and run ourselves. We must reclaim our culture! I have drawn a line in the sand, I will never again, vote for the lesser of two evils. I will never again sacrifice my principles for anyone's politics. I am a Huckabee Republican.

We can still be victorious!

I am sure everyone reading this has felt some disappointment over the last eight days. I know I have. I am writing to encourage everyone to keep fighting the good fight. The only way we are guaranteed defeat is if we quit. The media does not want us to know how possible it still is for Governor Huckabee to get the nomination. The majority of states that have yet to vote are quite conservative. Senator McCain is not exactly known for his conservatism. Governor Huckabee is an authentic conservative. We just need to keep McCain from getting 1191 pledged delegates. Then off to St.Paul we go. If the chances were as remote as the so-called experts say, do you really think Governor Huckabee would be getting all this pressure to get out of the race? The answer is a resounding no!

We need to give to the campaign like our life depends on it. If you are not a Ranger yet, please sign up and become one. Tell all your family and friends about Governor Huckabee. Do not let them be deceived into believing this is over. I would encourage every supporter to join a local Meet-up. We still can get the truth out to the people. We can not leave this to the media. They have failed us!

Will it be easy? I doubt it will. Is this one of the best investments in our nations future we could make? I absolutely believe it is! Can we still be victorious? I unequivocally believe we can! I am not putting my pom-poms down!

Kansas Victory

Yesterday, my family and I made the trip to Hiawatha, Kansas, one of the caucus locations. We got up at 6 AM and were on the road by 7. It took a little over 2 hours to get there. The parking lot was nearly full when we arrived, and it was still a half an hour until the caucus started. There were almost 200 people in attendance.

At the caucus, I had the privilege of speaking on behalf of Governor Huckabee. I spoke for about 8 minutes, covering many of the major points of Governor Huckabee's platform. I yielded the floor to a supporter I had met when I arrived, who spoke about the importance of having a man in the highest office who seeks the wisdom of God daily. Another gentleman spoke for a minute after that. His great grandmother was a slave, and he mentioned how a wonderful Republican president in Abraham Lincoln led the way in abolishing the atrocity of slavery. He then went on to say that he believed another great Republican president, Mike Huckabee, could be the one to lead the way in abolishing the holocaust of millions of unborn babies. My ten minutes was almost up, but one more gentleman had one thing to add. He told the crowd that this election was far from over and gave examples of brokered conventions the Republican party had in the past where the nominee went on to win the general election.

There were many Huckabee supporters who came, and there were even more when the truth was laid out before them. The total vote at this location was Mike Huckabee 121, Ron Paul 28, John McCain 11, Mitt Romney 6, Alan Keyes 5, and Fred Thompson 1. I had two people come up to me afterwards, saying they switched from McCain to Huckabee. I don't know if there were others who changed their minds, but at least I know I made a small difference. Many people thanked me for making the trip to Kansas. It was a great experience for me.

I know that we can all make a difference. There are more people who know the name Mike Huckabee now than when the campaign began, but not everyone knows about him, and even people who have heard of him do not know about his great vision and moral clarity. We neeed to continue to get the word out. After all, the media hasn't been doing their job lately. So whether it be talking to people you know, doing sign waves, passing out literature, participating in the phone bank, we need to all do our part. Last but not least, don't forget to give what you can, and don't forget to pray.

My Weekend in Missouri

I apologize for not blogging at all lately. I can't believe it's been only a month since the Iowa Caucuses.

I wanted to encourage my fellow Huckabee supporters to do everything they can to spread the word about Governor Huckabee. As we know, the media has already written him off and isn't helping out. They've written his political obituary - again. I hope my story of this past weekend will be encouraging to you.

My family and I left early Saturday afternoon to drive to Missouri. Our first stop was in St. Joseph's. We approached people outside of a local mall, handing out information regarding Governor Huckabee. Most of the people we talked to had not decided who they were voting for, and they seemed receptive of the information we provided. We then went to Kansas City to attend a Mike Huckabee meetup. We shared our experiences and our opinions, and everyone who was there is strongly committed to Governor Huckabee's candidacy. Out of everyone there, not one single person would choose Romney as their second choice. So much for the spoiler theory! It was wonderful to meet those who attended. Perhaps we'll see you in Nebraska just before we get our turn to vote!

On Sunday, we attended church in Platte City, a small town just north of Kansas City. We received a very warm welcome. A kind gentleman even gave us "umbrella service" to keep us dry, as it was raining/snowing/sleeting outside. It was a wonderful time of worship coupled with a powerful, uplifting message. I spoke to the pastor prior to the service regarding the AFA Voter Guide. I only had one copy printed out, as I didn't have a chance to make more copies. He didn't say anything about it until near the end of the service, but what he said surpassed my expectations. He said that there were two people visiting who were campaigning for Governor Huckabee (my husband and me). He told everyone he wasn't telling them who to vote for, but as American citizens it is our obligation to vote. He went on to say that as Christians, we must vote our values and our conscience. You and I know that even though he didn't say "Huckabee" he meant Huckabee.

That afternoon, we went back to Saint Joseph's to do a sign wave. Since it was Super Bowl Sunday, we figured a busy intersection next to a grocery store would be a good location. We found a Wal-Mart Super Center, and decided that was a good location. Even though our feet got wet from the snow on the ground, our hearts were warmed by the many positive responses we received. We had lots of waves, some thumbs-up, and several people honked their horns in support. Compared to the hundreds of positive reactions, we received maybe only a half-dozen negative responses. I think it's safe to say Missouri likes Mike. Let's hope and pray that they like him enough for him to win on Tuesday!

If anyone is reading this from Missouri, Governor Blunt is dead wrong in his assertion that a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. Shame on you, Governor Blunt! The fact of the matter is, a vote for Huckabee is a vote for Huckabee. (Interesting concept, isn't it?) The same goes for all the other states as well - a vote for Huckabee is a vote for Huckabee. So let's all vote for Huckabee!

Huckabee in Council Bluffs

If you are reading this blog, and have not committed to giving to the Mike Huckabee campaign, please, I urge you to do so. Tomorrow, December 27, there is a grassroots effort to raise $1 million for the Huckabee campaign. Please refer to this website for more information: http://dec27th.hucksarmy.com/

On Saturday, my family and I went to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to see Mike Huckabee speak. This was the fourth time I have seen him, and he was terrific as usual. There was a good turnout for the event. Afterward, my daughter Mariah, who turned 10 the previous day, went up to get Governor Huckabee's autograph. She brought up a book about presidents she received for her birthday. The inside front cover listed the first 22 presidents, and the inside back cover listed numbers 23-43. There was a spot for the 44th president, which a question mark over the face. She had Mike sign the book next to that space. It got such a reaction from the crowd and the press. In fact, there is a picture of her getting her book signed on the web. Here's a link to a story about his stop in Council Bluffs, with her picture: http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=2835&u_sid=10215818.

Homeschoolers Heart Huckabee

Recently, there has been some talk in the blogosphere about how Mike Huckabee is not homeschool friendly. On the contrary, Governor Huckabee is the strongest advocate for homeschooling among the candidates. That is why the Political Action Committee of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA-PAC) endorsed him back in June. Part of that endorsement is posted below. For the complete endorsement, here is the link: http://www.hsldapac.org/dnn/Home/HuckabeeforPresident/tabid/93/Default.aspx

Michael Farris and Michael Smith were convinced in June that Mike Huckabee is the best candidate for President of the United States. This was at a time when Governor Huckabee was not a frontrunner. Not long ago, I read that there was an effort on the part of Ron Paul supporters to convince HSLDA-PAC to change or withdraw their endorsement. As a homeschool mom who supports Governor Huckabee, I was concerned, so I contacted HSLDA-PAC. I was assured that their support of Governor Huckabee was rock solid.
--------------------------------------------------------
HSLDA PAC--Mike Huckabee for President

Dear HSLDA members:

HSLDA's PAC Committee has taken the historic step of making an early endorsement in the 2008 race for president.

We believe that Mike Huckabee, Governor of Arkansas, should be elected the next President of the United States. Mike is a principled conservative, a friend of homeschooling, a man of character, and a man with a mature faith in Jesus Christ.

Mike Huckabee, as governor, was the first to appoint a homeschooler to the Arkansas State Board of Education, and to our knowledge the first to do so in any state. He is adamantly opposed to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and is committed to stopping the erosion of parental rights. He is pro-life. He supports traditional marriage. He believes that the Internal Revenue Service should be abolished and replaced with the Fair Tax--a move that we strongly support because it would greatly benefit homeschooling families. He believes and is willing to say that Islamic extremism needs to be understood as a theologically driven threat. He believes that America must be strong, but should never be perceived as a bully. He believes that our borders must be secured not only from illegal immigration but from the growing trend among American judges of "illegally importing" international law into our American judicial systems.

There are a few other candidates in the race who are properly described as principled conservatives. None of the media's "frontrunners" would qualify for this designation. But we believe that Mike Huckabee is by far the best communicator in the race--he is able to articulate his conservative principles in an incredibly winsome and articulate manner. Moreover, among the principled conservatives, Huckabee is the only one who has been a governor. And we have not elected members of either the Senate or the House--and certainly not a mayor--as President of the United States in nearly a half century.

[...]

It is far safer for an organization like ours to sit silently on the sidelines for a long time. But, it is our judgment that we must get behind a conservative candidate who will provide a viable option to Hillary. Moreover, many of us have waited a long time for a presidential candidate who is a truly qualified and articulate man who shares our values down to his core. Mike Huckabee entered politics for the same reason that most of us began homeschooling. He wants a future that is grounded upon timeless values.

We think that the time is now. Please support Mike Huckabee.

Sincerely,

J. Michael Smith
HSLDA President

Michael P. Farris
HSLDA Chairman & General Counsel
--------------------------------------------------------

Unfair and Unbalanced

I used to be a fan of Fox News. I first started watching Fox News Channel during the 2000 Presedential election. Over the years, I was impressed with their fair and balanced reporting, and that they seemed to live up to their motto, "We Report, You Decide." Having grown up watching news reported by the mainstream media, FNC was a breath of fresh air. During the past several months, though, I have started seeing a difference in the way FNC has been covering politics.

FNC has not been fair nor balanced in their campaign coverage. Here are just a few examples. First, in the Republican debates, the so-called top tier candidates such as Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani were given the majority of the questions and therefore had much more air-time. Mayor Giuliani must not have thought he had enough time, because he always spoke after the bell, and was given every opportunity to do so by the moderators. Candidates such as Governor Huckabee were not given nearly as much time. I would have expected that from CNN, but not the "Fair and Balanced" network. Second, when Mike Huckabee started rising in the polls, he was a guest on "The O'Reilly Factor." That interview was so bad, I lost all respect I had for the "humble" correspondent. The only topic covered was religion. I wouldn't mind a question or two on the topic - after all, he was a Baptist preacher - but the whole segment? It was intended to make Governor Huckabee look like a religious fanatic that happened to be running for president, instead of focusing on his qualifications such as his 3 years as lieutenant governor and his 10 1/2 years as governor, which gives him more executive experience than any other candidate. Third, one of his first appearances on "Fox and Friends" he was supposed to be on at 5:30 Central, which is way too early as it is. You wouldn't see them give that time slot to Giuliani or Romney. To make matters worse, I woke up early to watch it, only to find out I missed all but the last 30 seconds, as they put him on 15 minutes earlier.

Now that Governor Huckabee has risen in the polls and he is getting more coverage, I am noticing quite negative coverage, especially from Fox News Channel, in particular Sean Hannity. On Friday, Governor Huckabee was on Sean's radio program to answer questions on Wayne Dumond. The governor did brilliantly, answering with clarity and conviction every question asked. An hour later, Pat Buchanan was on the show, and Sean brought up the same questions about the Dumond case with him. Wasn't he there when he asked the questions of Governor Huckabee? Was the interview with Pat Buchanan taped before the interview with the governor and played afterwards? Or, is Sean really on the "Stop Huckabee Express" accentuating the negatives and eliminating the positives. Yesterday, Mitt Romney was on the radio program, and he was given two segments to distort and defame Huckabee's record, with Sean joining in. On H&C last night, the "Stop Huckabee Express" continued. Sean continued to attack Governor Huckabee on the Dumond case and on pardons and commuted sentences. I don't think Sean was interested in the answers, because he kept cutting Huckabee off. Sean's favorite thing to say about Governor Huckabee is "I like Mike Huckabee" followed by some more attacking him with distortions of the truth. I would really hate to see the level of the attacks if he didn't like Mike. I can't wait to hear Fred Thompson talk about Mike Huckabee on Hannity's show this afternoon.

Wayne Dumond - One-Sided Coverage

First, I would like to express my condolences to the victims and their families of the Westroads mall shootings here in Omaha. My prayers are with you. I have been to that mall on many occasions, and I can only imagine what it must have been like to be there today during this tragedy.

I would like to comment on the news media coverage today surrounding Governor Mike Huckabee. On Good Morning America, ABC News ran a story regarding Wayne Dumond, the convicted rapist who was paroled by the parole board in Arkansas while Governor Huckabee was in office, who later assaulted and murdered a young woman, Carole Sue Shields, in Missouri. They interviewed the victim's mother, who said she would do everything she can to prevent Gov. Huckabee from becoming president, as she blames him solely for Dumond's release. Truly, what happened to Carole Sue Shields was a tragedy, and the actions of Wayne Dumond were deplorable. However, the coverage of ABC News regarding this story has been totally one-sided. They did not contact Huckabee or any of his spokespeople regarding the story. Getting both sides of the story surely must be taught in journalism school. These so-called "journalists" should go back to school and take Journalism 101, Ethics 101 - or both! To see the Huckabee side of the story, please go here and here. (The first link is a transcript of a news conference today, after the ABC story aired.)

Now for some good news - people are still wanting to find out about Mike Huckabee, going to his web-site, signing up for his e-mails, and contributing to his campaign for the first time. This story was just posted: http://www.mikehuckabee.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Blogs.View&Blog_id=846.

Why Am I Doing This?

I am a wife and a mother of two girls ages 9 and 8. I homeschool my girls. Between providing my daughters an outstanding Christian education and taking care of my household, my free time is very limited. With all that I have going on, why am I blogging?

The reason is clear. I am quite passionate about politics. I have been ever since Ronald Reagan was inaugurated on my sixth birthday. As a nation we find ourselves at a crossroads. In the 2008 elections we will decide which direction our country will go. II Chronicles 7:14 says, "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." I strongly believe that Governor Mike Huckabee is the person to help our nation return to our great Judeo-Christian heritage. He is by far the best candidate running for President of the United States. He may even be the best candidate to have run during my lifetime. My mission is to pray, to contribute my time and finances, and to do whatever I can to see Mike Huckabee become the 44th President of the United States - the greatest country God ever gave man.

In this blog, I will try to do what the media is failing to do. Months ago, the media decided who the "frontrunners" were going to be, before the campaign really ever started. The media coverage has been rather biased, and the debates have been anything but "fair and balanced" from FNC and the other networks.

Please keep checking for future postings.
